Gaia, the Greek Mother Earth goddess is the inspiration for new works by three female composers - Laura Bowler, Deirdre McKay and Carmel Smickersgill, celebrating our natural world and exploring the issues facing it through the combination of voice and flutes.
This informal showing, ahead of Ruth and Laura returning to perform the full programme at NMD 2021, will allow audiences to delve into the exciting work of contemporary creativity. This will be a chance to experience a first iteration of some of the new work following an initial 3-day residency developing the new commissions.
A joint commissioning project partnering soundfestival, New Music Dublin, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Royal Northern College of Music and Kings Place.
Supported by PRS Foundation’s Beyond Borders
