Dublin’s Richmond Barracks in Inchicore is the historic setting for this concert of works written and presented by remarkable women.

Performed by Irish soprano and ‘veritable tour de force of vocal sound, experimentation and expression’ (Opera Today) Elizabeth Hilliard, the programme is built around Great Women by Gráinne Mulvey. Commissioned by the Dublin International Chamber Music Festival with funds from The Arts Council, this towering work is a celebration of Irish women who have helped to shape the social and political landscape through their striving for equality and liberation. It is followed by Israeli composer Chaya Czernowin’s diaphanous ‘etude in fragility’ Adiantum Capillus-Veneris (I), and a world premiere from Ailís Ní Ríain.

Gráinne Mulvey’s Great Women was commissioned by the Dublin International Chamber Music Festival (Great Music in Irish Houses) with funds from The Arts Council.

In partnership with Dublin City Council Culture Company and in association with Richmond Barracks.
